Some common sense course rules
1. Be courteous to other users of the path. We don't have exclusive use.
2. Keep to the right when encountering an oncoming runner or walker.
3. Absolutely no littering!!! We can't emphasize this enough. If you're caught, you're a moron for littering as it is against the law, a disrespect to others and you'll be DQ 'd, DNF'd. and asked to leave the run immediately. We are guests of a beautiful, world class city. People work their butts off to keep it clean.
4. When crossing a road, yield to traffic and cross in a safe manner. We will have NO officials at any road or lot crossings.
5. Handlers or crew are allowed at all times. It's a GREAT path, in a great location. Bring your support crew and friends to help you. Sometimes, it is great to just have them to keep you going!
6. Be careful of where you park, whether you or family/friends when they join you. Parking is usually free on Sedgley Drive, which is a short walk to Lloyd Hall and start/finish.
7. Pacers are permitted. Try to make it after the 50 mile mark. Run with other runners and enjoy being out there with other crazy minded people! A pacer is there for encouragement and emergency situations, really as a safety support.
8. A pacer should be prepared to run for long periods between aid stations, just like the
runner. It's recommended the pacer carry a pack with water, food and a flashlight.
9. Because we are NOT guaranteeing any aid, it's recommended runners carry AT LEAST one water
bottle. We may have a community table with stuff on it at the 4.2 mile marker, but this is not a guarantee.
10. All distances must be completed on foot. If we have to tell you this and it isn't obvious, don't come out! The only thing you are cheating is yourself.
11. Run smart, eat and drink plenty and keep moving to the finish line!!! DON'T QUIT!!! You CAN and WILL do this!
Some not officially legal, nit picking rules
1. This is a free, fat ass style run
2. We are fun run organizers, not directors.
3. Like with any time you run, if you fall down and are hurt, you are on your own. If you wait long enough, someone will eventually come by...eventually being the key word.
4. No littering! If so much as the tab from a gel packet is dropped, the runner is disqualified! Self policing is in effect in regards to this.
5. Any runner who wishes to withdraw must personally let a run organizer know.
6. Pacers are path companions and motivators. Pacers must be on foot, or bicycles, or scooters or heely's. We'd prefer they be on foot.
7. All runners must reach the start/finish line by 1 pm Sunday. The course closes at that time.
9. Look out for each other. If you see someone struggling, talk to them or walk with them. Make sure they are doing okay.
10. Music is fine. It's your run. Use caution and ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings, especially at night.
